Since you already participated on the
membermap here on the forum, Mitchel, I can tell that your Lat and Longitude is as follows:
lat 34.03898245273673
lng -118.38677823543549
So, on the
Ele Ele wiki page next to the "Members Growing This Banana" heading, on the right hand side you see a link that says "edit". Click that.
You are now taken to
just that part of the page to edit it.
Now you can add yourself to the map.
You will see this text in the textarea where you are to type.
Code:
===Members Growing This Banana===
Change it to look like this:
Code:
===Members Growing This Banana===
34.03898245273673, -118.38677823543549, momoese
How did I know this was your location?
Below your username here on the forums, you have a link that says "map me" that link is there because you added your location to the member map. Some people do not have this link appear there because they did not do the membermap yet.
Your map me link looks like this:
Code:
http://www.bananas.org/vbgooglemapme.php?lat=34.03898245273673&lng=-118.38677823543549&zoom=4
We're just focusing on the part that looks like this:
Code:
lat=34.03898245273673&lng=-118.38677823543549
You guessed it, the numbers immediately after lat= is your latitude and the numbers directly after lng= is your longitude (dont leave our the - prefix from your longitude)
So thats how I can tell that your Lat and Longitude is as follows:
lat 34.03898245273673
lng -118.38677823543549
So what I did was start a new line after the
and I placed your info as follows:
Code:
34.03898245273673, -118.38677823543549, momoese
I then hit preview to preview the changes, I liked them and so I hit save.
You now appear on the map as a marker that when you click the marker, the text "momoese" appears. You can change that text to whatever you like.
So the next person to add their location to the map would start a new line after your entry, place their lat then a comma then their long then a comma then their username and a blurb if they want.
Hit preview to preview the changes, then remember to make sure you hit save after that to finalize it all.
This is the easiest way I know of to get yourself on the map.
Say, for example, you did not fill out the member map here on the forum yet but you want to add your location to the members growing this banana map, you would click the edit link to go to the edit map form, click the little blue text that reads "make a map" then by clicking and dragging and zooming around with the map controls, you find your location, click it and type your text in the little bubble that appears, then hit save on the little bubble.
Now you must copy the text that appears below the map that resembles this map code into the form below it where you are actually supposed to input it. If it sounds confusing, it is! Maybe one day we can make that easier, but for now - the easiest way is to first get yourself on the member map. Then you have it saved somewhere for good. Now each time you need it, refer to your map me link or go into the member map and grab it from the page where you edit it there.
I will go ahead and make a new entry for the profile page so you can store your members growing this banana map code snippet and always have it handy to easily copy and paste into the map whenever you need it.
