i dont think you need to grow them under metal halide if you already have HPS. i started my banana plants under 600W HPS then added a 400W MH. the 400W MH was nowhere near the brightness of the 600W HPS so i bumped up to a 1000W MH. Currently they are growing under this combo: 600W HPS and 1000W MH. People say that HPS makes em grow tall and lanky, but i dont really think it makes a big enough difference to be concerned about. if they are only going to be temporarily indoors then i would just keep them under the HPS. i will post some picks of my plants soon since they are permanently indoors and will be growing entirely under grow lights.
