There are a few long threads over at Dave's Garden that you should read if you are a member. There are many experienced growers over there, and they all had ones that died while being overwintered. Some of them had ones that made it through the winter looking fine, and then when spring came, they found that their AeAe had been slowly rotting.
I'm not saying that it can't be done; I'm sure it can, and I know of at least two people that have done it successfully. Miamimax is a member here that has at least one. There is another grower and member here -- I think she goes by Gothqueen over at Dave's. I think she has a greenhouse where her AeAe stays for the winter. Here's a link to one of the threads at Dave's:
Tropical Plants: Death of an ae ae I think the key to success may have something to do with very little to no water in the winter.
