Default Re: Newbie saying Hello!

thank you for the welcomes.

i am a first time grower, but i see bananas alot here in the phoenix area. but u kinda have to be in the older parts, as all the newer areas are desert landscaped. it seems as if the landscaping turned more desert as the area turned more urban...kinda backwards to me.

but here is what i have:
i planted a mysore in the ground this weekend, and to my suprise, the stalk rotted in the middle somehow and fell over. I have no idea why, so I just cut the stalk and went to the tropical nursery i bought it at. they told me to cut the stalk at the ground, let it dry for a week, then water it, and it will come back out of the same stalk. and they gave me a free belle banana, which i dont know anything about, as a sorry or something like that.

also, i dug up two raja puris that were in the ground as they looked horrible (my uncle had been taking care of them for the past year). anyways, last year they were huge but from the very uncommonly cold winter this year in az and ca, they frosted. they never looked the same afterwards, as they are really yellow and browning all over. So i dug them up and potted them in a partly shady area until they can get a little bit bigger.

and thats my first banana planting experience. hopefully it goes well
