This may be exactly what Keith said, but here's my version.

Last fall when putting plants away for winter I took a few pups from them. Three of them were from a Williams Hyb. and one from a D. Cav. Of course I took many others but let's talk about these four.

I have pix in my gallery and can post them as soon as time allows to figure it out. The Cav pups corm area taken was about the size of a golf ball even though the pup was only a few inches tall. I hurt my back bad when taking the Williams pups and didn't really get any of the corm and no roots. The Williams pups were about two feet each. They all spent the winter indoors, mostly dry, and in low light. None were really allowed to gain much growth.

The outcome to date. Again these are the potted bananas in my gallery. They are now outside. The D. Cavendish is growing great with really neat coloring on it's leaves. The Williams: One never did anything but rot. The remaining Two are just now starting (slowly starting) to push up and open their first leaves since harvested in Dec.

My point? I really don't know about the amount of roots on the pups taken. From what I've seen, the greater the corm area taken, the better the pups respond.

I hope this may help stop someone who was about to ship a Pstem with no corm.
