Default Spider invasion

Does anyone have a problem with to many spiders living and breeding in the petiole canals of their banana plants? I get these medium sized dark brown spiders that live In there and make hundreds of little babies. I don't have anything against spiders but they are becoming a nuisance by literally covering my plants with webs that trap dirt and leaves and such making an eyesore not to mention climbing on me and scaring the @rap out of me when I trim the old leaves. I grow all organically so I guess they feel at home but I need to find a way to drastically reduce their population without using poison. Any ideas? Btw it's too late in the season for Praying Mantis eggs.
