I also try to go organic as much as possible. I have lots of Black Widows in my bananas and everywhere else. The Mud Dobbers (sp.) used to control them well, but the people who moved in around us thought all insects were bad, and sprayed everything in sight. We used to have tons of Praying Mantis and Ladybugs, but I haven't seen but maybe one ladybug this year.
I know that's no help, but at least I could vent a bit.
