Winterizing A Banana Tree With Bubble Wrap

I read online awhile ago about using various types of bubble wrap to
winterize a banana tree. I think, I read it from the Northwest Palm's forum. They claim that with bubble wrap, you don't need to dig up the banana tree or cut it down. I am just curious if anybody on here tried it before or knows anything about it. I live in zone 6b in Southern Ohio and this is my first year growing bananas. I would hate to dig up my banana trees every winter.

Here is the website: http://www.cloudforest.com/northwest/forum/17302.html
