I would just try as hard as possible to bring the ensete indoors, even if it means cutting the plant back a little bit so it is easier to bring in.
Im Worried about my banana plants also and I have to wait till the last minute possible to dig them up since they have gingers flowering next to them and digging them up would mean no more ginger blooms. I'll probably give them some frost protection if we get a frost before mid november. Its getting chilly outside and the bananas refuse to grow anymore.
