Question Red Abyssiaian and basjoo's left out in the cold-can they be saved?

I have saved the post and pics from a member called Bigdog, and intended to use that as referrence when it came time for me to bring my nanners in from the deck. Well, I have been numbingly depressed for a while, and I blew it. I live in Vermont, and it snowed last night. I've known for weeks that I needed to get out there and process them as Bigdog has done, but I did nothing. Well, this a.m. I got up, sat at the computer, looked out the window to the deck, and my heart broke. So, after posting here, I went out, pulled the ones I could manage out the their pots, cut off the leaves and the trunks to about 3t from the soil line. I dragged and /or carried them to my basement, and now here's my problem. (Actually one of many). I have them out of the pots, but how am I going to dry them out? The photos I saw had the plants laying out on grass in the sun to dry the soil. Won't mine just rot? I don't know if that member is still around, but I could use some advise here. Or is it all a moot point, as it's too late anyway??
