Default "Banana Stuff" in the newspaper.

Yesterday's local newspaper contained two banana related items.
The first was about using ground dried banana peels to remove contaminants from water. It said these were 300 to 400 percent more effective than several other materials at removing heavy metals, etc., and could be reused 11 times before degrading. It went on to say that there was no shortage of material, as roughly 100 million tons of naners are grown annually, world-wide. My only question would be, where would one find a concentration of peels? With other fruits, you could go to a cannery, but I don't think anyone is canning bananas.
The second story comes from the "Hints from Heloise" column. A woman said she bought a couple of closet door hanging shoe holders, for storing tee shirts. She said each shoe slot could hold 3 or 4 shirts. She grouped hers by color, and said her husband put his good ones on the top, and his "painting and banana picking" ones on the bottom.
They live on Maui, in Hawaii.
