My Tall nimwah bloomed at about that height in June -it started leaning badly and had to prop it up to keep the pstem from falling over with the nana bunch.
You might want to water the mat heavily as you pull/push the pstem.
pstems are pretty strong but I would use strap (cargo strap) vs rope - at least use strap or a wide material against the pstem if you are applying force.
