Default How soon until i can fertilize newly planted plants?

Hello all,
Just planted three varieties of banana here in North County San Diego and wanted to know when it is safe to fertilize. They were planted about a week ago and were stressed out from the move and the heat (I used chelated vitamin B1 to help with root shock) but are stabilizing now i think. one of the plants is down to only two leaves . I have an interesting set up and location, but i need to know when i can feed them and what fert is best. I hear great things about milorganite, but the thought of feeding my bananas with processed human sewage is kinda gross. Also i have a big Rottwieler; will him unleashing his morning rain destroy my fruit salad hopes? Thanks for the help guys.
