Default A problem with my baby Ae Ae

Don't confuse this with my other thread posted on Ae Ae growth tonight.

I got this Ae Ae as a very small pup a couple of months ago and it had a couple of nubs showing on the corm, but no roots. It was a sword pup and lost its leaves and then I performed surgery since the next couple of leaves got hung up trying to emerge. Then, last week, things looked much better and a leaf started to emerge. On the downside, it looked to be all green. To make matters worse, this morning I got some black spot on part of the leaf and tonight it looks much worse.

I've been careful with the water, keeping it mostly on the dry side, but I did water it slightly just before taking this photo. Maybe I need more water, but I doubt that is the problem, I'm tempted to dig it up and see what's going on below. Maybe it's an insect problem? I don't see any, though.

Sorry for the focus point being too low, but you get the idea. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
