I was really surprised to see this flower because we had a freak hailstorm in the beginning of the year that lasted hours and left a few inches of hail everywhere, it tore up the leaves and that manzano turned black after a week or so. So I cut it back to almost the ground to get rid of the blackened part. It grew again but thinner in diameter and now has flowered, the pup of that tree is bigger.
Oh ok, well who knows, only time will tell. A mild winter would certainly help.
