Default bananas in december?

Hi, I'm new to this. My husband and I planted some banana palms about 10 - 12 months ago. To our surprise they're sprouting little bananas with a huge bulb or something hanging below the little banana sprouts. We're in Houston and though it's in the 70s or so during the day, it's been cold a few nights. 28 one day last week and 30 tonight. I'm worried about my new babies. We're so excited to have them! We never dreamed they'd produce fruit, they were purely ornamental purposes because I love tropical plants. So my question is how do I keep them alive and growing through the cold nights or is it inevitable we'll lose them growing this late...or is this normal?? We've not had a frost but I'm sure we will before the winter is over and I saw a post that said 4 months to harvest from first bloom. Help! now that we have them we don't want to lose them.

Thanks!!!
