I did them from the tops. Whenever pineapples are on sale, I buy them for the tops. I guess that doesn't make much sense to buy the pineapple just to plant the top to get a pineapple? LOL!!!
I know there are several ways to root them, but I put mine in water for at least a week. Then into a pot. I tried one in the ground once and it didn't survive.
