The acetic form (compared to Indole Butyric) is preferred as a penetrant for hard shelled seeds. More generally, acetic chelates are used when immediate penetration is desired in foliar sprays. In California, an important example is carbohydrate and potassium foliar sprays for commercial strawberry fields.
