Default explant questions

Hello I am new to the banana tree and had a few basic questions about taking an explant for tissue culture.

from what i have read the only place to take an explant from is the corm?

the only banana trees easily avaliable to me are still fairly young and small (1 meter or so tall) in pots and no suckers or pups above soil line anyway.

if i were to try micropropagate one of these avaliable trees i assume i would have to sacrafice the tree to get to the meristem?

how big is the part of the corm that contains meristem tissue and can I cut this piece of tissue into smaller portions / more explants?

appretiate the help
