Default What is it?

Does anyone know what the plant pictured below is? If so, is it edible? How do I cook it? How do I care for the plant?

An Asian gentleman stopped in my yard and offered to swap some plants. He wanted some cuttings off my dragon fruit plants? I said sure, why not. Anyway he gave me some plants, including the pictured plant which he called ginseng. He said he makes tea from it and the plant gives energy. When I researched ginseng none of the varieties looked like what I have. By chance, I came across an image of a plant called talinum fruiticosum which seems similar to what I have. I just wanted to check with some of the plant gurus on Bananas.org to see if anybody could give me a definite identification.
