Default Re: Average time for pup

I'm going to admit how I suddenly got 6 pups from a very young potted DC. (She's in a pot because I haven't figured out where to plant her.) I purchased her from Lowes a couple of months ago; my 1st banana was a DC I had to leave behind when I moved and she only cost $8 so I could afford to be sentimental.) I chose her because she already had a pup which made my cost per $4. I carefully separated the baby; my first successful operation. We've had quite a bit of rain lately which means I didn't have to water but also meant I wasn't paying attention. About a week ago I notice that mama had keeled over--the leaves looked great but the p stem was broken. And it appeared to have rotted at soil level. I removed it and realized there were now 5 more pups growing in a 2 gallon pot. I suspect the plant I purchased may have been stressed or not particularly healthy which could explain the earlier pup which, BTW, is flourishing. I'm too new at this to start whacking off my better bananas' p-stems to exchange pups for fruit but am not displeased at my "bargain".
