An update, so far this method seems to be working. Some of my bananas look like tents in the yard. They have a point in the middle where they've grown a little that they didn't have when I covered them up! I hope they're not staying TOO warm. I did put a bunch of leaves over the cut top ends of the pseudostems to help insulate the stubs further before covering with the tarps. I'll post a picture on the photo gallery when I get a chance today.
