thanks all for response.
i have not had experience with bananas and thought i cut too much. but i have been looking at some other threads. i saw one poster in Tennessee that digs his up in the fall and just leaves them in his crawl space till spring, so they are pretty hearty.
in a little over a month one is doing very good.
