Re: Beautiful, Royal And Majestic 'Ae Ae' Is Flowering!
I 100% agree with Hector! I grow mine in my native pure sand, however wish I would have used pure clean coarse sand on my AEAE. I planted mine in Full Sun! It almost killed it. Hector suggested to build a shade structure and I did! Once it reached 5' or so I removed the shade. Mine is now about 9' and stacking. I'm hoping to preserve the pstem and get fruit next spring! AEAE seems to be a lot better once it's established (6'+). I have 4 pups and hope to plant my future ones in all coarse sand like Hector does. AEAE is the hardest Musa I have ever grown! And I almost lost it several times last winter/spring! I recommend the variegated dwarf namwa! It is tough as nails! Musa Ta-Née is also pretty tough!
Congrats Hector! So good to see your hard work has paid off!! Trust me Hector knows how to grow AEAE! That huge bunch is proof!!
