Seedlings are extremely sensitive. I just about lost my Velutina seedlings from putting them outside too soon. I would not buy live banana plants unless they are at least 12" tall and have a nice robust and healthy p-stem. Your seedlings were probably on the brink of death when they arrived. Those plants were way too young to be shipped.
