I wonder if there has been any significant changes since that video was produced in 2004 (I think it was talking about 2002 events).

Honestly, I would doubt that they use flaggers for crop dusting of pesticides. With the expanded use of GPS systems that are very reasonable in cost, it is cheap and more accurate, but I would not be very surprised if sprays were still applied with workers in the fields.

It would be nice if there was a movement for "fair trade" bananas like we've seen for coffee in recent years. I prefer to pay more for a product if I know workers are being treated fairly. So much of the consumer sentiment is to find things at the lowest price possible and this can increase the risks of such abuses as shown in this video (as well as greed, government corruption, etc.).

Thanks for posting, we need to keep such things in mind when buying our food.
