Relatively few plants can be propagated by root cuttings, bananas are not one of them. It's difficult to find good info on plants that can be though, because many people cannot distinguish between true roots and other plant parts. In the case of bananas, the corm is not a root, it is a stem, so if you mean propagation by the corms, then follow the advice above, but if you mean propagation by roots, then that is not possible.
