This has been attempted, repeatedly I am told. Typically what one gets are all green or all white plants and very few, if any, variegated plants. The thing is likely a chimera, each shoot tip has to have some of each cell population (green and white) to produce the variegation.

TCing bananas is a cinch, if AeAe could be TCed consistantly someone would have done it by now. I remeber when ele ele and M. lasopcarpa etc. were waiting list bananas as well. Now they are as cheap as the others.

If I could get my hands on one I might TC it just to see exactly what happens.
