Musa_Cavandish,
I live in Toronto and I frequently have plants mailed from the U.S. One box of 6 bananas that I ordered was stuck at customs for 15 days! When I finally received the box most of the plants had brown spots and showed no signs of active growth for weeks. I decided to peel off each leaf from the psuedostem until I saw green active growth. Unfortunately for some of the pups that was all the way to the corm. I only lost one pup in that box, but luckily I bought 2 of each species in that order
.
So, to answer your question, bananas ship very well even when they are stuck at customs!.
I frequently send packages to my brother in St. John's and they usually arrive promptly with Canada post expedited. I have a feeling it is going to be a long cold winter for you in Newfoundland. What most people don't realize is that it is not the temperature that is bad in Newfoundland, but it is the never ending WIND!
