Default Help! My Banana is dying!!!

Hello,
I have a Red Abyssinian Banana that I bought from the Philadelphia Flower Show last Feb. I was about 2" when I got it and is now about 3' tall. It grew great all summer with just water, no fertilizer.
So, now it is VERY cold in NJ and I brought it inside for the winter. I placed it infront of the window that gets the most light and has a heat vent right under it. I figured it would from benefit from the light and stay warm from the heat vent as well as have somewhat of a breeze.
But, most of the leaves have withered away and fallen off. There are 4 leaves left, which seem to be withering away pretty quickly.
There is also no new growth coming up either.
I do water the plant every other day with water (no fertilizer).

I love this tree! Its my little touch of tropical paradise all the way up here in NJ.

Can someone tell me what I doing wrong? And, how do I prevent the plant from dying?

Thank you for any help you can give me!

Jeff
