Interesting story, but the relationship of acres to hectares, above, is backwards. A hectare is 2.47 acres. An acre is .405 hectare, making the $1000.00/hectare land come out to $405.00/acre. I've seen this mistake several times before. I have a book, about growing (temperate zone) fruit, that is quite good, but this mistake is made throughout the book.
