Same with mine, although my p-stem did survive about 1 1/2- 2" above the soil . I cut all the mush down to the hard part. I covered back up and am going to wait about 2 more weeks before permanently uncovering and then I'm thinking either a poly tunnel or wall o water with remay and a blanket at night.till constantly above 40 at night.
