sorry i think we have a communication failure. ..storing the corm/bulb and potting it up for the winter is totally different..asking about storing makes people assume that u will be doing just that..during storing there is generally no significant growth at all. the plant will be dormant you can wrap it with something breathable(in most cases really no need for pots or potting soil). if you are doing this make sure the plant's root system is capable of storing energy(rhizomes,corms,bulbs).

if you are talking about potting up a plant for the winter i would bring it inside and not water it as much because it will rot out the plant roots if its not actively growing. i would keep it on the dry side.its a general rule for keeping a plant in the winter.
