The pollen was retrieved from M. zebrina and the seeds were produced on M. velutina. I will get some pics of the bloom this summer. I now have a group growing in a shade area of my yard so I can find out if the red will hold out longer on the leaves with less sun. The leaves are quite shiny and almost have a waxy feel to them when they first appear.
