Re: Is Apple, Manzano, Brazilian, Pome and Silk the same cultivar
Last year I did some research on cultivar names and synonyms. There is more consensus among publications of the last 2 decades than in prior years. Here's what I came up with, although I don't claim it to be 100% correct or the last word on the subject:
- Apple Banana of Africa: synonym of Manzano, genetics AAB in the Pome group.
- Apple Banana of India: synonym of a Mysore, genetics AAB in the Mysore group.
- Brazilian: an AAB cultivar of the Pome group.
- Manzano: an AAB cultivar of the Pome group.
- Pome: an entire subgroup with AAB genetics that includes: 1000 Fingers, Brazilian, Dwarf Brazilian, Dwarf Ladyfinger, Golden Pillow, Kalela, Lady Finger, Manzano.
- Silk: an entire subgroup with AAB genetics that includes: Latundan, Maca, Rasthali.
and for good measure: - Mysore: an entire subgroup with AAB genetics that includes: Belle, Chini Champa, Kappa Pazham, Karpuravalli, Kathali, Kluai Nom Sawan, Kunnan, Mysore (a specific cultivar), Nendran, Pisang Ceylon, Rajapuri, Safet Velchi, Walha.
