Last year before Hurricane Gustav all the bananas I tend to were looking fantastic - tall and solid fronds. Then....

It was amazing. Took about a month for them to be totally replaced. The ones that were leaning eventually straightened up. Some fell over completely and floated around.

Amazingly, at first, not one banana died from the salt water that sat for 3 days - and then a week later we got the exact same height of storm surge from Ike. That did kill some other plants but no bananas.

However, a Yellow Star, Siam Ruby and the two Ensetes did eventually die so it was a long term effect from the salt, as it usually is, I'm guessing.
