I typically don't see any new growth from a pup that's been transplanted for 30 or more days depending upon how long it's been out of the soil, and the condition of the pup itself. Freshly dug pups that have not had the roots disturbed much before potting will grow faster. You don't need to trim the corm before planting but you can if you want. In my experiance it's best to let the soil get pretty dry before watering. With average temperatures I will pot a corm and water it once, then wait for new growth before watering again. This all but prevents any rotting. The wine tip helps too!
