Help me identify
So ive had this plant for a while and love it but ive never know what type it is. Unfortunatlly its hasnt had any fruit so i dont know anything about that. There are some picutres on linked to my member name (however its much bigger now). when new leafs apear they grow inside the stem of the last leaf and then come out. The leaf is on average about 2.5 to 3 feet long and has a kind of rounded end. what else do you need to know? thanks for the help!

Re: Help me identify
Really nice looking plant. Where did you get it?
It's nearly impossible to tell what it is at that stage, possibly when it gets a little larger, someone could venture an educated guess, and when it flowers that will help the most in discovering what it actually is. |
Re: Help me identify
i just uploaded a new album of the same plant but older. I dont know if this will help. I got the plant from a sale benifiting the biology club here on campus. Ive had it for about 8 or 9 months and love it. If theres anything you can see that i can do to help it out please let me know.

Re: Help me identify
should i do somthing about the wax? or is it ok?

Re: Help me identify
No that's normal, just some have more wax than others and yours has alot. Sometimes it can be an indication of heat tolerance.

Re: Help me identify
Maybe an Ornata of some type? Reminds me of mine, having that blueish tint but that could just be the picture. Notice the ends of the leaves look more blunt than rounded. Also the wax and the thin pseudo.-?Nate.

Re: Help me identify
I don't think it's Ornata, they have more wimpy petioles, and some almost flower at that size. The reason the plant looks skinny is because it's stretching for light, beeing grown inside.
I would think it's either Musa Balbisiana (highly likely if they had seed trials or similar in the respective biology class) or some kind of plantain. Take this with a big pinch of salt though, I am looking at the general leaf shape and prescence of wax. Looks just like my Saba. |
