![]() Bought this 'ice cream' banana from a big box store. It popped the bud about a month ago at 5 feet tall, its second pup also just flowered at 5 feet tall. From all the photo references I see online, an ice cream musa should have a purple/red bud and be much taller, in fact all the so called 'ice creams' that get confused for the same like dwarf namwah/dwarf cavendish/blue java all have a purple/red bud, so any idea what this musa is since the bud is light green? Btw, these photos are of the mom and the pup, I cut off the bud from the mom, the pup still has his bud on.

![]() Thanks! Lol. So I've been babying this useless weed for nothing?! Heh, now it will be replaced with something more useful, because it's a nice spot for a banana surrounded by concrete and close to a carport, so in winter it tends to do well here. Thankfully this year I bought and planted out 20+ different varieties from more reputable online sources, such as all the varieties from florida hill nursery and other places, I really went bananas this summer, and this one time fool won't be fooled again by a big box store!

![]() Hmm... I guess I'll need to wait till next year to see if the hands on the bunches will have the knuckles like a blue java does vs the namwah. I'll be pushing all my bananas hard with npk and organics and hope we have a mild winter like past two ones in my area, the winter of 2017 was a real naughty one, hope some of that global warming drama is working in my favor here lol. Thanks for the heads up.

![]() Guys, thanks for all the replies and extra info. Aloha Tropicals also carries the blue java and many other pacific varieties. What's interesting is I made a good order of different varieties from them and they didn't have half of them in stock and only sent out what they had available, I'm pretty happy cause I trust them now that they won't just send some variety for another, they just crossed out on the order page what they didn't have in stock and only charged for and shipped out what they had in stock.
