Located in zone 6. Plan is to keep it indoors for 1 year and then overwinter it outdoors next year.

The one on the right was damaged badly during shipping.

Sounds like a good plan. They should do well next year outdoors. I would use straw mulch (1-2 ft.) the 1st few years outside in the winter.

They look happy, but waiting for freeze danger to be over so they can go outside and play! The little one annoying the big one repeatedly asking "Is Jack gone yet?"... the big one repeatedly responding,"I don't know, Junior. Mr Frost is one tricky fella! Let's wait just to be sure."

I love my imagination... = )

I STRONGLY recommend planting them in the ground this summer as soon as you don't have to worry about freezing. They will grow a LOT bigger in the ground outside than in a pot. Then, when fall comes, you can decide whether they're large enough to try overwintering it outside or dig it up/repot to bring em inside. Either way, put them outside this summer...they will LOVE it, trust me!

But should I keep it in that pot, dig a hole outside and just plant it into that dug hole WITH the pot, but add more soil onto it?

And when the times comes, dig out the pot and bring it inside for the winter?

Do you think that would be good? Or would you suggest removing it from the pot once summer hits, and then when autumn arrives, dig it up, and re-pot it?

DEFINITELY remove the pot before planting it in the ground. If you just plant the pot in the ground, there really isn't much benefit of doing that since the roots are still limited by the pot. Once fall comes, you can dig it up using the pot you wish to repot it into as a guide for how much soil to remove. You will lose some roots, but the effectiveness of the summer growth will still be apparent in the plant and the corm.

As much as the sun shines. However, be prudent when you first take it outside. Like any indoor to outdoor plant transfer, you want to gradually build up to its maximum sun exposure.
