Default Too late to put in the ground?

I have a banana in a giant pot that is ~8 feet tall. We are in Kentucky and have successfully had others in the ground that we cut off and bury for the winter. Is it too late in the year to put my big boy in the ground?

My thought is put it in the ground.

Assuming it is a basjoo you have almost 75 days of warm soil left.
Don't disturb the roots too much in the transplant your plant will need them to sort itself out.

good luck
