![]() [Banana Gallery - All Planted! It took the 3 of us (basically done by our gardener) like 4 hrs to get them all planted in between our existing 'naners. I thought it's better this way so that they can get some shade. Once they start to leaf out, we can then decide where to relocate them. All the edible cultivars were planted at our nursery, I kept the Variegated ones (7 plts) and Siam Ruby (12 plts) at my house. Real fun and ... no back ache! ![]() Since there are like 47 different types, I used a plastic card 6x2.5" lodged into the slightly split top of a piece of bamboo as markers. Cheap and effective! ![]() |

![]() Wow, Tog! Looks great. I don't want to hear you talking about being jealous of ANYTHING that I grow anymore, lol. After all, it is December and you have shorts on and are planting bananas! I've been wearing winter coats here, and hoping that my palms make it through the winter. Sheesh, some guys have it made. Best,
Frank |

![]() Ask for pix of the giant bugs, and you will get some perspective on the trade-off.

![]() Hey Guys, thanks for all the response and encouragement. I was away in Thailand after I ran this thread and my computer had connection problems when I got back that's why I replied late.
Frank & Buzzwinder - Actually after your comment about me in my shorts at this time of the year made me realized how lucky I am to be in an evergreen place. Never thought of that till you guys brought it up. Topersmith - "What no cigar?" - Well, I whacked all my cigars during the planting and almost a whole comb of 'naners! Now I must keep a dud for all photo calls! ![]() It's more than a week now, all the 7 Variegated and 12 Siam Ruby at my house which I planted in pots are putting out a new leaf. I can see some of the roots shooting out like worms up to 6in long. This shows how well they grow here and it has been raining everyday since they were potted. I will be at the nursery this weekend and will update on the progress of the others. ![]() |
