the weather had been so nice and for that reason i had been watering a lot
then the cold snuck up on me and i had to start the process of bringing the plants inside
each night after work all week i worked on bringing them in
the pots were extra heavy from the watering
first an update on some non banana plants:
i brought the traveller palms and white bird of paradise in at first because the fit nicely flat against the wall.. however this year the biggest traveller did not really fit
i crammed it in there but the leaves/petioles are so rigid that instead of bending the pot sat funny propped up by them on an angle
i am sure it will be pissed off all winter

also when i brought my butia palm inside it took up almost half my grow space!

because i was in a rush to bring them in each night i did not get many pics but i did take this pic with a 355ml soda can for scale

my nephew helped chop the plants down with the machete (which he loved doing)
my sister got some pics of us next to the plants for scale

i ran out of time the one night which was forecasted to be pretty chilly... there was frost just north of us
so i covered up the stumps of the chopped down plants with two layers of bag to get them through the night and then dug them out of the 65 gallon pots and brought them inside in much smaller pots the next evening

here they are inside for the winter

and here are a couple matoke that spent the summer at my sisters place which i dug up last night

Your Jungle garden did well this summer.

I am prepping mine to bring indoors also.

Found some mealys on a couple of staghorn ferns and some ants in a container but no observable spider mites which will probably stage the annual uprising in January.

Locally the trees are just starting to change to fall color with the temps dipping and the days much shorter.

The leaves are purple and trichomes white.. looks like another 2 weeks.

yes i have found mealybugs on some which are inside... i might try getting some horticultural oil from a friend
want to try hard for the plants this winter
plan to get a humidifier which taps into the plumbing
also solder a new tap in the garden area to make watering less of a chore
