Growing Ensette from seeds
I have always grown ensette from seeds that sink during the water test for viability. Now I am being told by a seller that banana seeds do not sink! Surely this cannot be right!!

Re: Growing Ensette from seeds
My understanding from everything I have read on this forum and elsewhere is that floating seeds are not usually viable. I am no expert but personally I wouldn’t spend time on them. If there are some sinking seeds as well, then I would consider including the floaters just in case, but a lot of time and energy goes into sprouting banana seeds in general so I would want to make sure I am giving myself the best chance possible

Re: Growing Ensette from seeds
I feel compelled to update my response to this post as new evidence has presented itself:
Of the Ensete seed I collected last year, all of the seeds I had from one of the plants were floaters, the seeds from 2 other plants sank immediately. The only seeds that germinated for me were from the floating group. A few other members had success with some of the sinkers as well but if I am understanding the situation correctly, they all had success with the C group which I think all initially floated for them too.
