![]() If you are referring to Musella lasiocarpa when you write "Dw. Chinese Golden Lotus" there are several of us here growing that plant. They were once thought to be extinct in the wild (and could be for all I know) but I believe it is pretty well-established in the hobby.

![]() Thanks for posting that list. Take it with a grain of salt though. The namwa is listed at 9.5 and I live a full zone north and it does well here and has done so for many years.

![]() Thanks for posting the list. Its relative location on the list suggest I had better pass on this one. It would be interesting to have a taste of the past.

How much protection are you having to give the Gros Michael? I live South of I-110 in Pensacola. Our conditions should be very similiar. Do you think it would prosper and do well here? If it will and if you make it to Bo's I'd take three of them if you could bring them over.

![]() Wow! I didn't know you had sooo many bananas. And that's a good thing because every year I tell myself I'm not going to buy any more plants and that never works. I don't have enough time to take care of the ones I have already.

![]() Terry - Do you still have Gros Michel pups?
Is it the original commercial nana that Panama disease wipe out in 1950s? How high do they grow? if 10 ft or less - I'm interested if still available. We re similar zones - I'm in Biloxi, MS and will drive over for pickup. Thanks, TJ

![]() would love to have Gros Michael -The list says zone 11. Chance's profile says he is just south of Mobile - if it survives there then there should be hope along the Gulf coast and S Lousiana. Zone 8 or 9.
So, Chance- how does Gros Michael fair in the winter on the Bayou? ![]() Thanks Jose

![]() Jose263, it is my understanding that Terry (a.k.a. Chance1945) purchased some trays of tissue-cultured Gros Michel plants at the request of some of us here at Bananas.org. People like me did not want nor could we afford a whole tray of TC plants from Agristarts. Once Terry obtained the plants, he then resold them to us here at Bananas.org. My point is that Terry may not be growing Gros Michel to the point where the pseudostem reaches its full height and produces bananas. We'll see.

So you're able to grow a namwah type outdoors successfully in zone 8b? I have an Ice Cream that is a tall namwah type that I would love to plant in the ground. I live in zone 8a/8b.

You may wish to check out the following thread about the re-sold TC Gros Michel. TC Gros Michel If you wish to speak with Chance1945, you will be more successful by sending him a private message. He runs a business, and may not see your post. Chance1945 business website is found at the following link Bayou Gardens - Home. He sells Gros Michel via this website, although he sold them cheaper to us here at Bananas.org. Good luck!

![]() My experience with Tall Namwah was purely accidental although successful. I thought I had an Ice Creme but it was a Tall Namwah! No doubt the lack of Winter last year is the reason for the huge success with all of my bananas this year and may not be repeatable next year. I do believe the Tall Namwah is fruitable in 8b with adequat Winter protection such as Terry did.
