Macropropagation using old mother plants

I've been using the mother plant in the photo below for macropropagation for about 8 years. I prefer using small mother plants because they produce small plantlets and everything can be done in 1 gallon pots. First step is to plant and root the old mother plant. Second step is to move the growing point of the mother plant above the soil level. Third step is to cut the rhizome at soil level leaving the lower part of the rhizome in the pot to produce new offshoots. Forth step is to start again and repeat the First step.

also are you "X"ing the center of the growing point or damaging it in a way to promote more pupping? or not?

Thanks for this information! I’ll have to give it a try. I just lost my smaller manini due to extended cold temps. It handled them just fine last year, but this year not so much.

Not sure what is the makeup of what PR is using but I have had great success using Lechuza PON with my philodendrons and sugarcane in pots. I'm experimenting with musa now. Its pricey and doesn't make sense to use in ground but for containers its worth a try.

Crushed stone. If I want it to hold a little more moisture and nutrients I'll add horticultural charcoal. There are some members on the forum that use BBQ charcoal because they think it is similar to horticultural charcoal but it's not. I wouldn't use BBQ charcoal but it can easily be turned into horticultural charcoal.

No "X"ing or damaging it in anyway. I call it the Dumbbell effect and there's probably hundreds of ways of making it happen.
