Musa 'Margarita'
Has anyone heard anything about this?
Better yet, does anyone know anything about it? Thanks, John |
Re: Musa 'Margarita'
I can tell you that Musa "Margarita" was born as a lime green leaf form of Siam Ruby. It is grown just like Siam Ruby. I have found that it does have a tendacy to burn a little easier than most bananas but at 100 degrees who wouldn't burn.

Re: Musa 'Margarita'
Do a search of the forums, we've talked about them here before. I got 2 from another person here; one is in a pot under the shade cloth on the pergola and it is growing well. One is in the ground back by the oasis and gets just a little shade from time to time. It is struggling, shows signs of sun burn.
There is some disagreement whether or not it is a green sport of a Siam Ruby. I was first told that it was, but as they became more popular people began to say otherwise. Like SR, it seems to pup fairly well after getting to 15 or 18 inches total height. If you don't mind the paler green color (makes some people wonder why it isn't darker green, is it sick?) it makes a nice contrast to other colors. |
