HI Isaac, I will get also over 2 weeks a Milky Way so i also don't know how to care him, I think the same as a normal ornata.

Daen,

I was thinking they will likely grow just like any other Ornata. In that case they would be pretty much care free. It would be nice to see some pictures of a mature clump with blooms to get an idea of what it will look like.

I have had one for about 5 years. I grew it in the greenhouse for a few years but it got too tall so I moved it outside. Its dormant at the moment, will beback next month. Nice bloom, it really is all white, sorry I didn't take photos of it ever.

Re: musa ornata 'Milky Way'

Thanks for the info. How tall do they get? Did you have them in the greenhouse to keep them from going dormant? They are as hardy as other Ornata right?

Re: musa ornata 'Milky Way'

In the greenhouse mine was only a sparse offsetter. There was never more than 2 plants in the clump. I kept them in there because I was uncertain of their hardiness.

They were planted right against the wall, my sidewalls are 12 feet. using that as a guide they were easily a total of 15 ft. That's another reason I removed them...the bloom was way up there and hard to see. Not like other smaller growing ones where you can really see the inflo.

They have been hardy here, but they are a bit slower outdoors than they were in the GH.

Daen, I've got one coming from Thailand as well. Maybe the same place? Does your German friend sell lots of musa corms?

Bad news. When I placed my order I got the last one they had in stock. I just got an e-mail explaining that the plant was damaged and would not be sent with the heliconia I ordered. They gave me a refund.
