Palm guy, new to bananas.
 

I just joined the forums through a link by MediaHound on the International Palm Society. I know my palms, but am pretty new to the banana world. I have tried several varieties, and a dwarf red species seemed to be the best for me. I have a Dwarf Cavendish which was a volunteer from a neighbor, and it is slowly tipping over, though putting out new leaves, and pups as well. Should I chop it down to a stump, or let it fall on its own? By the way, I live in Venice, Florida - between Tampa and Naples.

you can dig it out and replant properly. When replanting it, remove all but the unfurled leaf. It quickly recovers and will fruit sooner compared to its pups.

Thanks for the welcome. I think I will be on the hunt for some different varieties in the near future - other than the stuff they sell at Wal-Mart and Home Depot. What the heck, Ill get myself some of those too. :)
