53 pounds of Tall Namwa... that’s a record for me! It has 10 hands but they must have really filled out. One winter bunch I harvested had 11 hands but weighed 32 pounds. The summer heat and the rain plump them up real good! :nanadrink:

Little less than 2 months after bloom. Harvested 10 days ago. I had to do a early havest since the stalk was leaning on our fence. 27lbs and 8 hands. Cut the last two hands out cus it kept tipping over. This is my 3rd harvest of this year. Still 5 more to go.

First Namwa harvest of the season for me. Small five hand Namwa bunch that weighs 22lbs. I inserted a medium size store bought I had in the kitchen into the pic as a size reference. No yellow fingers but this morning one was split so I harvested the bunch.

Harvested this bunch of Florida Platinum (RP). The 25 lb bunch took five months to fill on four shredded half leaves the result of an early Spring bunch and damage from TS Claudette. There are a number of partially filled fingers but overall very impressed with this plant's abiility to get it done under tough conditions!

I assume that you weighed it but it looks heavier than 25 lbs.

Harvested a 70 lb Dwarf Cavendish bunch. Biggest ever off of this mat!

It's also amazing the differences in winter vs summer ripening. The winter ripened bananas off this same mat were about a third the size of these guys, which are bigger than just about any banana I've ever seen in a grocery store.

And here's that monster top hand of 32 bananas. It weighs 15 lbs by itself :ha:

Amazing! 70lbs is incredible.

My Dwarf Cavendish is blooming late, again, just like last year. Probably another under filled, blossom end rotted bunch, due to be harvested in February when the plant falls apart due to cool/cold temperatures. That mat is going come spring!

Yeah, I keep telling myself I'll dig up the Cavendishes because there are simply better, more interesting, and less cold sensitive varieties to grow, but my two mats have just been insanely productive. 6 bunches this year!

Congrats! Could you describe your fertilizing schedule and what fertilizer you are using? Also any other amendments. Thanks!

Sorry, just saw this!

I really haven't done a whole lot to them. I mulched them pretty heavily with pine bark after I planted them there (moved them from a different part of the yard), but that was 18 months ago at this point. Every few months this growing season I've given them a couple handfuls of 8-2-12 fertilizer (I believe it's palm tree fertilizer) and also have chopped up spent pseudostems and scattered them around as mulch. That's really it though. I didn't water them either except for a couple times in March/April when we had a long dry spell.

I'm not sure that this would align with recommendations of expert banana growers, but just letting them do their thing seems to work pretty well!

Some of the bananas here look sweet but I still rate mine higher.
